What is the Extended compatibility package for XR-3, VR-3, and Varjo Aero?
The Extended compatibility package is a limited Varjo support coverage that helps your XR-3, VR-3, and Varjo Aero and Varjo Base software remain operational and secure in your existing workflows after the general support ends on January 1, 2026. This package is ideal for organizations that need to maintain essential functionality while transitioning to newer solutions or extending the lifecycle of their current Varjo headsets.
By purchasing this package, compatibility with SteamVR™ tracking, NVIDIA GPU drivers, and Windows 11 version 25H2, as well as critical security patches will be maintained until January 1, 2028.
The Extended compatibility package is available for business customers and requires a Commercial Varjo account to use.

Items covered by the Extended compatibility package
SteamVR™ tracking
- Varjo headset is not recognized by SteamVR™ caused by SteamVR™ compatibility issues.
- Loss of headset tracking following a SteamVR™ update affected by changes in SteamVR™.
- SteamVR™ crashes on startup due to SteamVR™ system compatibility.
- SteamVR™ motion controller tracking fails after a system update impacted by SteamVR™ updates.
NVIDIA GPU drivers
Note that we cannot guarantee a solution for all NVIDIA GPU driver issues, but we will make our best effort to work with NVIDIA to resolve them.
- Headset fails to initialize after an NVIDIA GPU driver version update due to graphics driver compatibility issue.
- Runtime crashes caused by NVIDIA driver updates.
- The headset shows a black screen after updating NVIDIA GPU drivers.
- Visual artifacts introduced by NVIDIA GPU driver updates.
- Guidance on compatible NVIDIA driver versions that support stable operations.
Windows 11 version 25H2
- Windows operating system update causes headset to stop being recognized.
- USB driver conflicts introduced by Windows updates: driver or system changes.
- Varjo Base fails to launch due to operating system incompatibility.
- Windows Defender is blocking Varjo services.
- Driver signature enforcement issues on major Windows builds.
Examples of items not covered by the Extended compatibility package
The Extended compatibility package focuses on issues related to SteamVR™, NVIDIA GPU drivers, and Windows compatibility. The following types of requests are not covered:
- Hardware issues: Physical repairs, accessory replacements, or component failures (including SteamVR parts). However, the product warranty remains valid for these requests.
- Software and features: General guidance on Varjo Base software, eye tracking, hand tracking, video pass-through quality, or advanced rendering techniques. Feature requests or application-level bugs not tied to the three compatibility areas that are mentioned above.
- Development support: Assistance with Varjo SDKs, APIs, Unity/Unreal performance tuning, or custom virtual reality project optimization.
- Third-party integrations: Compatibility and troubleshooting for non-native tracking systems, plugins, or Varjo-ready applications.
- Audio and enterprise: Sound issues, multi-headset setups, or enterprise deployment support.
- PC configuration updates: New released NVIDIA GPUs after the general support ends on January 1, 2026.
- Windows compatibility: New windows versions after Windows 11 version 25H2.
